D\u00e9but f\u00e9vrier, les trois candidats les mieux class\u00e9s de chaque province ont pass\u00e9 un test de sommellerie. Sous la surveillance attentive d\u2019un jury, ce test a permis d\u2019\u00e9valuer leurs connaissances en mati\u00e8re d\u2019accords mets-vins et de s\u00e9lection de vins et de verres. Les candidats ayant obtenu les meilleurs r\u00e9sultats ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9clar\u00e9s laur\u00e9ats provinciaux.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u2019est Ruben Struyve, 21 ans, qui s\u2019est distingu\u00e9. Il travaille au restaurant ardennais La Table de Maxime\u2019, explique Baudouin Meyhui, pr\u00e9sident du jury.  \u201cEn d\u00e9pit de son jeune \u00e2ge, Ruben a impressionn\u00e9 le jury par ses connaissances et ses comp\u00e9tences communicatives. Il a obtenu la note la plus \u00e9lev\u00e9e et peut donc d\u00e9sormais ajouter le titre de Sommelier of the Year 2024 \u00e0 son actif. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meyhui poursuit : \u00ab Ruben a suivi des \u00e9tudes \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole h\u00f4teli\u00e8re Ter Duinen \u00e0 Coxyde. Il a effectu\u00e9 un stage \u00e0 La Table de Maxime \u00e0 Paliseul dans la province de Luxembourg. Satisfait de sa performance au cours de son apprentissage, le propri\u00e9taire du restaurant lui a imm\u00e9diatement propos\u00e9 un poste de sommelier. Ainsi, Ruben est un coll\u00e8gue de Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Cabut, qui a remport\u00e9 l\u2019ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re le titre de Sommelier of the Year 2023.
